Upcoming MMO by NCSoft, sequel of a sorts to Guild Wars. Looks amazing, and I wish it would release very soon. Any others following it?

I am following it a little bit. I am planning on playing it but only casually. I don't want this to become my next WoW.

I saw that it introduces lots of vector casting spells and generally non-targeted abilities, which is gonna raise the needed skill to a new whole level. I also saw that the quests are really interactive with the environment around you, affecting it much. While this sounds exciting at first, imo it will start to be annoying as hell in later gaming. Generally it seems pretty interesting mmo, but the choice of the graphics engine doesn't fit my tastes, so I wont touch it. Logical choice though, since the complexity of the game, would take a huge toll on the performance if the graphics were too good too.

I'm excited for this. I'll definitely pick it up since there's no subscription and the content I've seen so far looks pretty good. It also depends on when it comes out, because if I have my hands on SC2:HOTS & Diablo III, I dunno how I can afford to give more time to other games, haha.

There are many things to love about GW2, but for me it's mostly because:
1. Any class can be anything - but even though they claim they destroyed the holy trinity in MMOs, guardian is still going to be the best supporting class. Still, I like the idea, it's innovative.
2. Awesome combat system that makes everything way more active. You keep moving, even while casting so it's actually dynamic.
3. Events above quests and there are a few ways they can turn out, so it's not as boring as doing one ultimate questline, plus they involve difficulty-scalling big-ass dragon bosses.
4. Endgame items for cosmetic changes, just like in GW1, you don't do THAT dungeon because you want to get the best gear, you do it because you like how the gear from it looks. So we actually have choices that make our characters different.
5. OMG DAT ART.

Are they still planning on a closed beta for before the end of 2012?

Are they still planning on a closed beta for before the end of 2012? That was the last thing I heard about it. Not sure how they'll make it, unless they just announce closed beta and not actually start it. Few people like to work over Christmas.

They've said it's this year for sure, it's already been announced. Now it's just all about luck and getting in!

Mesmer is the last profession. Final showing will be on Wednesday. Definitely going to roll a Staff mesmer, it'll feel like SWTOR with the whole strangling people with invisible powers

I knew Mesmer would be my main even before the reveal, the troll class that mindblows is just too convincing.

My friend is thinking that all people with GWOMM will get first bite at closed beta. I hope he gets extras so I can get in

Rather than GWOMM, I hope it's just people who have GWEN accounts! That would be awesome and also profitable for AN as people would start buying GWEN and most of players would be exGWers so all the beta reviews/videos would be full of hype.

Totally, but I'm just thinking first dibs at closed beta may be those who actually invested a lot of time into the game.

Yeah but you need to realise that lots of people (including me) invested lots of time in GW but never cared about hitting GWAMM. That would be unfair to all players who decided to do PvP/Build making instead of achievment-farming.
