So the Closed Beta starts on friday but it's about just as closed as Alpha q.q ..
Also I found out that Mesmer is really squishy and illusions are casted on specific target and we can't really control them.
Also, appearently even Thief can be played as fair support!

Yeah I've been following GW2 for about 3 years now. My real life will end when it comes out (hopefully around April 2012??). I already have plans for various groups of people I've met online over the years to come together and form a large guild.

My cousin and I played Guild Wars since launch. We fucking loved it and can't wait until GW2 comes out.

I have created a GW2 steam group cobbled together from the people I've met in the various online games I've played over the years, as well as, a few groups of real life friends. Let me know if you are interested in joining; there are already several IHG members in the group.

Anyone interested in doing a guildwars playthrough for the Hall of Monuments and to get the unlocks for guildwars 2?
I only have the original GW atm, my understanding is u can do it without buying all of the expansions, though I may end up having to buy them all.
Apparently for US guys gamestop has the entire collection for $30.

I don't think you can. Go here hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome and at the top in the middle type your character name and see if you got any points. I already have 30/50 points, so all items but no achievments.. TBH that's good enough for me. But I might still help with something.. Still, for most part you just need progression and shitload of platinum (currency) to get points. Then you just buy miniatures as they're easiest point makers right after gearing up your heroes and getting pets, then finally progression titles, and lastly end-game armors/weapons that are quite hard to get as they're expensive.

Well, if anything, I can always tell you what to do to get points.

Ye i guess, its a little dull playing on your own tho
How many points can I get from just buying things @ trade or whatever?
How much would that cost roughly?
I also have some birthday presents still i think. Probably 1-5years 1 of each, but im not sure if i opened a few of them a while back. Can they be used for any HoM achi?

First of all, for prices check out www.guildwarsguru.com/auction/index.php and if you're serious about getting points then register because it's a great place to post green items that are useless to you and worth some money. For gold or green miniature you get 1 point + 1 point for having any, so that's 3 points. When buying, make sure there's no 'dedicated to' text, that means someone registered it for his HoM already and you can't do it anymore. Gold miniature costs roughly 30-50k if I remember right and green a bit more. Other than that, buy bunch of whites for 1k-5k each to fill up '20 miniatures' meter because it's worth 2 points. I think I might have some spares. Ok at this point you'd have 5 items unlocked in GW2. Next 5 points you can get just by unlocking heroes in Nightfall / Factions / EotN and then upgrading their armors by doing special missions where they drop. You just go to this site wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Fellowship%22 and click on a hero you have, check the items tab so you know which item you need to get to upgrade it, obtain it, give it to a npc and your hero can be registered. M.O.X can be registered without any armor! So for first 5 heroes you get 3 points. Now you can get one of the three rare pets: Phoenix, Black Moa, Black Widow. If you don't, you get 1 point, if you do you get 2. I say you should just get Black Moa as it's easiest. At this point you'd have 10 points already. Now in the next monument you get 3 points just for linking accounts, I think it's NCSoft Master Account to Guild Wars. You get 2 points by completing any campaign or a special dungeon such as Sorrow's Furnance. So you should complete each campaign + sorrow to get another 3 points. That's 8 points without spending a single coin and you can get 3 more if you get any pvp achievment from the list shown here: wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Honor%22 but if you aren't even halfway, screw this, it will take forever to get. So by now you should have about 18 points. Now comes armor/weapon. For unlocking an endgame weapon or armor you get 1 point. So that's easy 2 points. Then you can get Destroyer weapon which is the easier one to get, but it's quite expensive (about 60k) to make though. Other than that, if you have a character that has completed EOTN and Prophecies, you can make a chain quest that will get you opressor weapon which is worth another point. Anyhow, you should get a bunch points off armors, just check out wiki for possible looks for each of your characters' prof, decide which looks the best and make sure the wiki says that it can be shown in your hall of monuments. If it can, then just go for it. You should get 5 armors displayed which equals +3 points and one Luxon/Kurzick armor for additional point. Summing up, by then you'd have about 25 points and that would cost you about 500k gold. But worry not, you still have lots of time and you can always be lucky and get stuff much cheaper than I anticipated. Plus, there's WHOLE BUNCH of useful guids on getting 30 points in HoM in fastest/cheapest way, check this one out: wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_earning_Hall_of_Monuments_rewardsor www.tentonhammer.com/gw2/guides/basics/hall-of-monumentsor the video www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8gO41FEQWE but be aware that the guy was wrong and you don't actually need helm part for any of the armors to get it displayed.

Nice, ty, very helpful.
How much gold would you expect to have after doing the campaigns?
The wiki says to beat EOTN first, but dont you need lvl 20 to get into EOTN?

Campaigns don't have any particular income except for the change that drops off every mob, if anything you're going to spend more than you earn on abilities and armor.
GW is one of the games that have very active and crazy marketplace, it requieres great anticipation skills and constant price checks. Every month something else is worth farming except for the items that always have demand on them, good example are ToT bags (Trick or Treat that drop off random mobs during halloween event, people usually farm them for days, buy them off while they're cheap and months later sell them for almost double price) or Ectoplasm that drops off a soloable dungeon. For any kind of farm you need a special build, for ToT it's Mesmer or Monk, while Ecto can be farmed easiest by Ritualists, Assassins and Monks if I remember right.
But I always liked to explore, figure out my own build and just go farm an item that's demanded but most people don't bother getting and then selling it off on AH easily. That way I got all the gold needed to get to 30 points.
Oh and also there's Nicholas, he's a traveler who each monday changes his location and demands different items from mobs nearby, then he gives you a gift that has random stuff in it.. If you're lucky, it can drop even a green miniature that's worth quite a lot.
As for EOTN, once you enter the zone you're instantly buffed up to have stats at lvl 20. You don't get any new abilities though..

Oh and I just checked, I have 6 white undedicated miniatures that I can give to you. Other than that, lots of mats for armors that could prove useful.

Make sure you check out some guides for shortest route. You can skip most of the missions with a bit of running. My assassin is quite a nice taxi if you need help in skipping content ^^

Currently 20/50 for HoM. I would like to get 40/50 for the Flameseeker title, but that would require a ton of money that I don't have. flameseeker just sounds like the shitty WoW title xD
