Alright im pro with computers but this one has got me stumped. here is the situation.. I was checking my email when suddenly my screen went like this at the time I belived that the OS malfunctioned / corrupted so I took the lazy way out and did a hard format and reinstalled the OS but after I installed the video cards driver the screen went black so I had to roll back the driver to generic default video xp drivers. Then I tried several different driver versions to the same result. The screen also goes black if resolution goes above the default 640x480. color and shapes are fine on the screen so im skeptical to say that my card has blown because im posting from said computer. as I stated previously I freshly installed win xp pro / SP1 iv kept it simple so far to help identify the problem. card specs radeon ATI x600 256mb its obviously not a virus of any sort and the video card works well enough to put this post up so the my only other suspect is my motherboard due to the fact that its the first time its refused to connect to USB's, its never required drivers to connect to them and it freezes when linked up to them now. meh might have been a minor power surge or something and left my system crippled.. give me your suggestions im all ears, also I sent a ticket to ATI but they don' t troubleshoot with wireless comps s.o.l. also if I don't check back like in the next day or two its because my wireless card has been acting up for no apparent reason, iv been battling with it as well..

im pretty sure everything is hard fused to the motherboard, if it were a desktop id just replace w/e was broken the same day but thats not the case. Due to all the random hardware problems iv had iv come to decide that my motherboard might have a crack in it or some type of heat stress on it because everything works but not as intended even with proper drivers and a fresh OS. a broken motherboard would explain everything, meaning im shit out of luck. im just going to build a new system when i get the cash =p
