Looks like it'll be brilliant for Star Wars fans and anyone who enjoys storylines, but it really isn't all that different from WoW. I like how it optimizes things, and for people who want to play WoW-but-not-WoW it could be amazing, but definitely not something I'll play on release unless I have nothing better to buy

We will all be playing on the Helm of Graush, which is now the IHG official server since me and a few others will be playing on it.

For a game that had so much money spent on it, it sucks. For a Star Wars MMORPG it's quite good and has the necessary atmosphere, but they completely ruined lightsabers. For a generic MMO, it lacks innovation. It does have some cool ideas like mini-personal spaces for quests so you don't need to bother with other players who want the same guy killed, plus there's lots of elite quests to do and I liked how in the instance you get to roll for who's going to pick the conversation reply.. But they're little things. I'd be sure to play ToR if it didn't have sub. fee, that's the main reason why GW2 is going to massacre it.

PvE sucked but PvP was one of the best I ever encountered in a MMO!
Isn't it ironic that GW now became the most dynamic/movement free MMORPG? Screw jumping, ROLL AND LEAP.

But the original guild wars sucked donkey balls, you couldnt even jump in that game for fucks sake! But that's the thing. Every other game gets things like jumping. It's almost universal for an MMO. Guild Wars was something different, more story based and linear than all these open world WoW-clones that are so common. WoW was fun, and still can be at times, but I don't want to be playing the same game with a different skin forever more. Innovation is awesome

If I cannot jump in a game, it is a dealbreaker for me, I will not buy it. I am mental about jumping.

I think i'll be done with the MMO scene for a while until someone can manage to bring something really different to the table. Just like Kowz says.

Silentdeaths, there's a lot of exaggeration in these posts on reddit. Graphics in ToR are AMAZING when you actually play it and see all the animations floating around. Lightsabers are ridiculous though, they ruined them and KOTOR/JK3 or any other not-too-old Star Wars games had them looking better.
About the second thing: that's why I didn't get hyped in the first place. I never get attracted to a game when there are 100 different people dragged in front of the camera so that they can sweetcoat everything in it. It is true that within minutes of starting the game you're doing things you wouldn't expect in other MMOs: you have a conversation with an NPC and you have 3 answers instead of one. And that's about it. He exaggerated it to hell and the gameplay feels like in any other MMO, so yeah, that part is to be ridiculed.
I'll just wait for it to give up on the sub. fee (cause it surely will) and then I will enjoy my sweet time in the old Star Wars universe game.

The comparison SS is most likely SW on the lowest graphics settings. But its also a screenshot of WoW from vanilla (aka, the worst graphics in the game). But that aside, sw has looked dated since before it even released. I dont buy the "amazing graphics", maybe its just me. To me even on max sw's graphics look mediocre. Maybe im just spoiled. The combat in sw is even worse than WoW imo. Especially the lightsaber play which essentially looks like two players swinging nerf bats at eachother.

The giant cities, detailed landscapes and very Star Wars-ish feeling I got while playing it made me realise the graphics aren't really cartoonish and bad, as it looked on the trailers/gameplay videos. Animations are stiff and it feels like KOTOR (meaning they look like in a strategic game with pause rather than mmo because of the stiff sequences and no flow between abilities) but nevertheless they look awesome.
Of course, that's nowhere close the liquid and artistic graphics/animation of GW2, but for Star Wars standards, ToR does its job. It really shows that they spent so much money on it. And that comparison screenshot floating around is being taken way too seriously.

It's alot of fun actually. I expected it to be milking Star Wars a little too much but it's really well done. I honestly don't like when MMO's veer away from WoW too much because that's what everyone has learned and knows, and it hasn't. But it has a lot of it's own aspects that are really well done. Not to mention the graphics are amazing.

Were the queues pretty bad on your server? I heard there was a big issue about it for the first few days.

I got ToR for free so I am now playing it as well. IHG's server is Veela. It is a popular PVP server. I will be playing very casually since most of my time will be absorbed by DotA2 and the future D3 . In terms of how good the game is... well... it is a 98% clone copy(see what I did thur) of WoW. It literally reeks of WoW. Every MMO since WoW was a "wow-clone", but never before has a company gone so far to 1:1 replicate it. Other than the story it is a 100% WoW-clone with shittier environmental detail, garbage PvE, and annoying voice acting. However, I hear the PvP is fun. Personally can't wait to try it out. If you hate WoW, and actually hate the game, and not because you're a hipster who hates it because it is cool to hate it, then you will hate ToR. It is the same game just in space.
